Navigating Spectrum and Sensory Challenges: Tips for Supporting Your Child.

Updated: Apr 9

Being a parent to a child with neurological struggles such as ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing, Seizures and so forth can feel so isolating. It can feel like you’re the only family with these struggles and no one could possibly understand the details of your life. First and foremost, you are not alone. While there is no carbon copy of your life experience there are so many families that are looking for the same hope, answers and healing that you are.

Jackson’s family is one of those families. Jackson came to our office after trying everything else and exhausting all other options. At nearly 2 years of age his parents were noticing low tone, motor and speech delays and retained primitive reflexes. Jackson was still unable to walk no matter how hard he tried. His days were filled with appointments with OT, PT, Speech and other therapies. While those therapies were working on training his body, there was still a major key missing.

Pediatric chiropractic care works directly with the brain and nervous system. Many kids who are in a perfect storm of developmental struggles like Jackson was are stuck in “fight or flight” survival mode. This state of stress for the nervous system is not conducive to growth and development which is why we see kids struggling to make those neural connections required for achieving new milestones.

There is nothing else that can get the body out of fight or flight and remove the stress that interferes with the brain-body connection besides chiropractic care. This connection is absolutely VITAL during childhood growth and development, especially because 80% of brain development happens in the first 3 years of life.

By the time Jackson had been seeing us at RWC for 1 month he was not only walking but running into our office excited for his next adjustment. Jackson continues to amaze us with his progress. Every time he comes in he has a new skill to show off, new words to help him communicate and a big smile on his face. He is able to have fun with his family and enjoy running on the beach and walking through Disney World like any kid would want to.

Jackson deserves to live life to his highest potential and your kid does, too! If you’re interested in learning more about how your child could experience these types of miracles call us at 561-768-9034 or request an appointment on our website. We can’t wait to serve your family.
